I will be discussing the Teaching for Learning Foundations we have developed at our school over the last two years.
We have taken evidence from research and from observing our own and other’s classes and classroom practice to create these Foundations.
They are not a ticklist to be crossed off every lesson, and they are still a work in progress. The aim is to give all staff sufficient clarity about our shared understanding and expectations of good practice. However there are plenty of opportunities to develop, adapt and innovate as we build on these Foundations.
I am sure everyone who attends this workshop will have opinions on the range of ideas we have created collectively. It is not perfect, it is not finished and it is not exhaustive: but that’s not the point. It’s about finding the balance point between a collective shared understanding and giving professionals freedom to adapt it for their own individual class of learners.
